Dawn of the Planet of the Apes Review 2014 REDUX !!

So i've posted a Review about this movie just a few days ago, it was the day of the first screening of Dawn of the Planet of the Apes here at philippines. I kinda realize that my review is first pretty short and doesn't really have that kind of thing on it.

So today i just watched again, this time i am with my family, i am still amazed on how this movie done, So this is gonna be my review of Dawn of the Planet of the Apes  REDUX !

Andy serkis nailed playing as Ceaser in this movie and that is amazingly well done in a motion capture,  everything in this movie is all great, this convince me to think that his is a blockbuster/sequel/Sci fi film is one of the greatest movie out there this year so far. Its really good than i ever expected.
I silently anticipate this movie and honestly DotPotA is the number one on my list in 'My Most Anticipated Film of 2014', and one message THIS IS HOW A SEQUEL DONE. The first film is Good the second one is GREAT. I don't want to overthrown good vibes about this movie like i did in my first review but it is what it is ! is good film i don't see any bad thing about this movie yet.

So Dawn of the Planet of the Apes is a movie directed by Matt Reeves, Starring Andy Serkis, Gary Oldman, Jason Clarke and More.
Its about two races, the human are surviving to live while the apes are living to survive. It takes place 8 years ? i'm not sure, but it takes place after a massive virus called "Simian Flu" killed a lot of people in this world as we know it. So this human survivors had their colony lead by Dreyfus (Gary Oldman)  which is an ex-soldier, and this Human are losing power for their colony so they need a electric power supply that can be only found in a place where the growing nation of apes are peacefully living and this apes was lead by Ceasar (Andy serkis), So Malcolm (Jason Clarke) and the company go there to fix the energy problem and there it begins the conflict, the struggle of both races, trust and peace issues.

From there you see there's a lot of things going on in this movie but it doesn't put you into a confusion. The power of storytelling and plot in this movie are awesomely executed, its so interesting, every scenes had something into it whether its exciting action or a drama it is all interesting.

The movie is all out Grey, its balance, from dark to lighter tone, it is a work of art. One of the best thing in this movie is the visuals, i heard they do less more of a green screen i think it really works, the set location and the place are perfectly well fitted to the happenings on its particular plot.

The Greatest thing about this movie is first Ceasar played by Andy Serkis, Andy Serkis did a really great job his performance are on that motion capture thing really works great, i love how you personally attached to his character, well this movie is emotionally powerful, i almost cried on some scenes and that scenes came from the apes, you felt their emotions, and if you watch the first movie you get more of that ! the experience that this apes suffers from the human you'll understand them throughout the film. Now The second great thing about this movie is Toby Kebbell playing as Koba, yes koba is one hell of an APE, he is also the villain in this movie, he's the one having an APE SH*T  while riding a horse, shooting Machine Guns he is bad ass, While Jason Clarke feels so very natural in this movie, he also done a great good job as a main human character, he acts like this things are really happening and you felt his relationship with ceasar gets stronger throughout the film, even though Garry oldman  is  not a main highlight in this movie he still done a good job you will also felt his struggle and strive to survive this colony of humans. The other cast did amazing job and i can't tell more.

Music and Sounds in this movie are good, they are very well made, through that sounds of ambiance, the score there you feel the tone of the movie. The action sequence are well done. I can't say more but everything in this movie is REALLY GOOD.

The only thing that i don't like about this movie is the fact that i don't see any bad thing about this movie, not unless CinemaSins review it.

Overall again the movie is fantastic, i am surprise how good this movie is because i am expecting that this movie will just going to be a better sequel but this movie turn out to be an Epic piece of Film, andy serkis should get an Oscar with his performance. So yeah ! i highly recommend this movie, its awesome !

Snowpiercer 2014 Movie Review

The fact that i missed it and i didn't really notice that when this movie first came out in our country, it was january of 2014, and darn it ! i never seen it on the big screen.

But hopefully this start of a week i finally seen it, and i feel Good.
So this is gonna be my review of Snowpiercer !

So Snowpiercer starring Chris Evans, Song Kang-Ho, John Hurt, Ko Ah-seong and many more directed by Bong Joon-ho is about a post apocalyptic era where the world is completely frozen and there's a train with a completely endless engine that won't stop and  it was a consider as a new shelter of humanity.
This train is divided by two, the people who's in the front are Wealthy while the people who is in the tail is a pile of poor people and Curtis (Chris Evans) are belong to the tail section, Now Curtis is planning to take over the front section while having a conflict whether if he is ready to be a leader of the ongoing train of survival.

I love the story of this, its very unique and it felt so fresh, there's some twist in this movie and its not really affects the whole movie rather it improves more. When you first thought of this movie  its just a post apocalyptic film with a moving train on it but no this movie is dynamic and wide, there's a lot to explore between characters and the place itself, it is so interesting.

I think the biggest strength of this movie is the characters, their personalities, it really adds a big thing the movie, i can say without this people on it this movie is just another normal film, Chris Evans done a great job ,he is the main character so he really shines in this movie although everyone in film do exactly a great job, the asian characters they've done a good good job, you might think its over praise but  for me i think i'm just very impress

The taste and the tone of movie is a mixture of a Dark Quirkiness in a violent type in gritty way, i think the reason why i can't really explain the tone of this movie its because it looks like a hollywood movie mixed with asian type of film making, i know that because i'm here and i'm asian

It doesn't really have an over top violence but i think the violence in this movie is okay , its still watchable, but through that violence and grittiness it shows a good sequences and transition in very part of the movie that makes you get more interested.

Action sequence are done well, i can say that the action scenes here is a very modern asian style, Shaky camera is present but it was well fitted in the movie, The music are pretty good, honestly i didn't really notice the sounds in this movie maybe because i'm so focused or pretty attached for the plot, and some of the dialogue scenes doesn't really have a music, all you can hear is the ambiance of the place where they in.

I think the only weak point of this movie is its some fast phase sequence i mean i can't explain but there's some scene here slows the time a little bit but still interesting and also its weird release i mean i heard that they a have trouble releasing this movie so it doesn't really get that much of attention.

And now if i observe the film itself in a logical way i would say this movie is a metaphor of media and politics specially asian media SPECIALLY our media and politics in philippines, i could say that the the people in the train is the audience, the train the camera/tv and wilford is the newscaster, and its pretty darn complicated to explain but that's why i think about this film

Overall the movie is a really good film to watch, its highly recommended its very unique and interesting there's some emotional attachments in plots and a good actors so yeah its a Must Watch probably get it on DVD or Blu ray because i assume its not on your typical cinemas anymore.

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes 2014 movie review

APE ! HORSE ! GUNS ! WAR !
So yeah Dawn of the Planet of the Apes i just watch it and i totally love it !

Its been a harsh week for me and yet i still find a way to watch movie and hopefully i watch this movie on its first day of screening, i watch it on 2D but 3D or Not this movie is well directed to be a MUST WATCH.

So this is my review of  Dawn of the Planet of the Apes which also known as DOTPOTA which is weird because POTA is a very bad word in our filipino language.

So Dawn of the Planet of the Apes is directed by Matt Reeves starring Andy Serkis, Jason Clarke, Gary Oldman and Keri Russell. The movie is almost like a post apocalyptic thingy because of the Simian flu which killed a million people around world just a small gap of year from the first Rise of the Planet of the Apes which is also a very good movie, but this human survivors blames Apes for the Virus while Apes doesn't have any idea if Humans are still there until this Human needs a power source for their colony and they need to get from a Dam where Ceasar and his army of apes are peacefully living and then we came out with this trust and peace issue thingy and the fight for Survival .

I love the way this movie build its characters, i mean you really get an attachment to the characters specially to the Apes, the very interesting part of this movie is its emotional affection, i almost get cried on some scenes from the apes. Andy Serkis played as Ceasar, and hell  ! this dude had his best performance even if its a motion capture which he's a PRO doing it. And KOBA ! one of my favorite in this movie he's one bad ass character played by Toby Kebbell, his character  doubts or maybe doesn't like how Ceasar treat at Humans he basically want to kill and slave all human after his experience or memories of what humans done to him.

There's so many things going on in this movie and its very very well done, The movie also had its good dialogues; Jason Clarke was also good in this movie, he's just natural, he reacts like this thing really happens, while Garry Oldman here is also good on it i can say that he's character is the counter part of koba.

The visuals in this movie is fantastic even if i watched it on 2D i can still feel it the sound effects are really natural and the scores are amazing. The tone of the movie is Dark, because when i watch it in perspective its almost a emotionally violent movie, the actions, the fight scenes was also fantastic. I don't really want to over praise this movie but darn this movie is really Good.

I can only explain the let down of this movie if  MovieSins make a video about it.
Overall the movie is Great and i have no doubt about it, from the very beginning till the end i felt the excitement in this so i can't wait if they are going to make a third sequel.

Pick of the Week

This is my blog so i basically i talk about things i love/like.
So i have this idea to expand my blog and its about my collection, well i haven't a real collection yet and i'm starting so i think its a good idea to share things i'm picking up or buying to add on my collection talk about it here.

So Pick of The Week is basically about things i pickup or buy from a particular week. Well since i'm not really regularly buying stuffs to add to my collection this thing wouldn't gonna a regular thing.

I'm starting build an DVD collection, its DVD because i think its more easier to buy for me here my country, sure blu-ray is also in some stores here but its not really mainstream so most the shop here at my country doesn't blu-ray so its easier to get an DVD and start collecting it and its also much more cheaper i think.

This week i get this two amazing movies

Superman the movie and Casino i think i just got a very very good pick, i mean both movie are excellent and i also got a very good deal with this i got both of this movie for like 5 to 6 dollars and i think its satisfying.

So far i don't see any download to those DVD in terms of their condition they are 100% original DVD's and i buy in one of the famous DVD stores in my country which is Odyssey.

I really do agree that Odyssey is one good store whether its a Music albums, DvD's, CD's they offer you good stuffs in a fairly good price and it really because piracy in our country was definitely chronic, its everywhere, so this SALE offers of the stores helps me to pick up some nice good movies and add it to my collection in fact i bought a Jurassic Park Trilogy Ultimate Collection for only $11.46 or 300 php.

I'm really looking forward to start my DVD collection and i really hope that i could continue it until grows.
My reviews of Superman the movie and Casino are coming up soon and darn i really wan't to talk about them so yeah.

That's my Pick of the week and hopefully more to come.

On The Job (OTJ) 2013 Movie Review

I think this is the best way to start a blog that talks about movie and stuffs (but mostly movies so yeah), To make a review of some movies ! yey !

I wan't to review On the Job first because its our local filipino film, and i'm a filipino.

This is the last  real quality movie that i could get in my country, and by 'Real Quality' i mean a movie that doesn't seem produce by philippines, it almost looks like an hollywood style action thriller movie, and other words this is the last filipino movie that impress me a lot, like i mean A LOT.

So 'On the Job' is a movie directed by Erik Matti, Written by Michiko Yamamoto, Starring Piolo Pascual, Gerald Santos, Joey Marquez and Joel Torre.
The movie is about two prisoners. One is Old named Tatang (Joel Torre) and the other on is Younger named Daniel (Gerald Anderson) and they were hired to assassinate a particular victim by way of freeing them off the prison to kill and bringing them back to their cell so the job is clean you get the point and you'll start to see the conflict between a veteran hit man against neophyte on the job, but then there's this guy named Francis (Piolo Pascual) who is a good, hard working NBI agent who tries investigate the situation with help the of an veteran cop named Sgt.acosta (Joey Marquez) who doesn't seems to have a promotions going on to him despite of being old in the job. Its basically  a character parallel between tatang, daniel and Francis and Sgt.Acosta.

First the plot of this movie is surprisingly interesting, it goes away from the plot cliches that other filipino actions films usually do, like a very very predictably story line, in this movie it doesn't have that kind of predictable story. Sure the synopsis of this movie is basically the main plot of it but at some point this movie has a lot more going on in terms of characters. It makes the movie more dynamic and doesn't makes feel to be isolated into a particular plot.

In terms of the tone of this movie its Dark and Gritty, its literally dark movie, the visual itself shows it, the places, and situation. The camera sometimes are so dark and for the first time i watched i complain the darkness because i can't see through the scenes but then i realize it does really looks like in real life here in my country, Dark in some places, no lights, and i love how this movie put me inside of it and makes me feel that i'm on it.

The actions scenes, the  gun fights are realistic like i never seen this before in any other movie here at my country, it's brutal and it really works so good.  The music and the sounds of this film is its nature, its good and it helps a lot to bring an ambiance to the film.

Only thing that makes me feel bad about this movie is that one scene that shows a cliches in any other filipino films, that is like a reminder that "Hey this is movie still created by filipino" is the romantic scenes, for me doesn't really work behind the darkness of this movie but its not that long so its okay and its not a big problem at all.

The Acting in this film is not really over the top and not really low, it feels like they're act naturally in this film in the way of embracing the tone of the movie and handled very, overall a very good performance specially to Gerald Anderson who usually a guy that doesn't have a pure filipino accent despite of his character on this movie being a real Filipino bad boy, so KUDOS to MR.Gerald Anderson.

I love how all the characters in this film have a big responsibilities on the situations that is going in this movie, even those characters that at first i think they have small part expands through the whole film. Another thing that makes this film so good is there's no toleration in every characters, and the twist doesn't  implied to the whole movie plot instead it happens to a character, and i love that, its logical and it has more sense.

The movie itself i think is also a metaphor of our current Government issues, and that i just a good hit for that.

Until now i'm still surprise how good this movie is,  because i never seen any filipino blockbuster films like this and YES this is not an indie film this movie is a High budget filipino movie that is very well executed, I highly recommend this to be watch even if you're not a filipino. This movie are so interesting that makes it so so good and satisfying to watch.

The Beginning

Hi there ! Yeah this is Beef, Kurt in real life and i love movies i want to find a place to talk about it but i don't have someone to talk with, so i found a way to start.. So i Talk about it on a place where many people can possibly hear, and that is THE INTERNET.

Wait what ? just now ?
Yeah just now, You know its hard to start a blog that will talk about movies because you don't know when or what to start.
Should i make a reviews of the latest movies i watch ?
Should i talk about my favorite movies ?
there's a lot of things to consider but for me i just wan't to totally talk about what i love, not only movies but only movies but also some video games, books or something that geeks and nerds usually talk about.

I'm an Asian, A filipino in particular, i am living in a country where 'Geeks' means 'Otaku' or you love an anime, and i'm not one of them, Sure its not universally acquired that all Filipino Geeks are Otakus, No, not , But most of  us though. In terms in filipino movies some of them have a great achieve but most of it are only essential for those who truly love our own cinema.

The blog called meat of film because i ran out of ideas to find a name through my mind.

I'm not a movie Critic, i'm just a normal dude who loves movie and if i ever make a reviews it's based on own  personal opinion, thoughts.

So yeah that's all i want to share so far, Lets start the movie talk ;)
